About Cardiff & Vale University Health Board

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) is one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK; providing day to day health services to a population of around 465,700 people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The health board provides emergency and scheduled hospital treatment, mental health care and also delivers care in people's own homes and community clinics.

The type of primary care services provided include general practitioners, community pharmacists, dentists and optometrists. UHB serves a wider population across Wales for specialties such as paediatric intensive care, specialist children's services, renal services, cardiac services, neurology, bone marrow transplantation and medical genetics.

Cardiff and Vale UHB is a teaching hospital with close links to Cardiff University and can boast a high profile teaching, research and development role within the UK and abroad.
